Lessons from Atlantis
In January of 2011 I made a PUSH goal to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary with a vacation for me and my husband. Away. Alone. No children. Our anniversary, approaching in September, was the perfect event to fuel my desire to save money to whisk George away. Somewhere. In February of 2011, I realized that I could, with focused effort, EARN a complimentary trip for two to Atlantis, via my company, Team Beachbody. The task looked huge. But the reward outweighed the enormity of the task. I set to work, with the goal of completing my qualification for this trip by November. On November 1, the goal had been crushed. George and I would be treated to a vacation in Atlantis. We just returned. What did this trip teach me? 1. Big goals are worth fighting for –...
We’re Leaving On a Jet Plane
There’s a first time for everything, right? Usually, though, we think of “firsts” in terms of what our children experience. Not this time. Head on over to my blog at PittsburghMom.com – for this time, it’s a “first” for Mom and Dad! If I can get everyone ready for the trip!
On Being A Professional Non-Professional (Say, “What?”)
Yes. That’s what I meant. I could be considered a professional non-professional. Just a turn of the knob, and clicks of buttons, and glitches. I remember lots of glitches. I entered Ohio University intent on becoming a video producer upon graduation. I even looked into producing patient films for hospitals. I did well in my course-work in college, but never completely dove in as much as a I could have....
2011 Highlights and 2012 CHANGES!
2011 was sweet. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I am not a New Year Resolution maker. Simply sitting down and writing down a list of goals does not a finished goal make. I believe, or rather, have been retrained to understand, that goals must flow from priorities. It’s very hard to set goals when you have no idea of your driving purpose. I’ve been fortunate to have a number of mentors in my life. Yes, Chalene Johnson is one. But there is also Linda Anderson, creator of Mom to Mom ministries. And the prayer partner I’ve had since 1992, minus the first 2 years we have lived here in Beaver (we are once again back at it, thankfully). I have “people” and I am continually trying to learn and grow – with them at my side....
