Losing Scout: One Year Later

My apologies. I wrote this in Evernote, and the transfer to WP messed with the formatting, and I’ve been fiddling with it for hours, but I don’t know code, and I just can’t look at this piece any longer. I’m tired. I’m sad. I’m pissed Scout is gone, and I don’t understand code. Good luck reading it.  Today, Sookie ate part of my script for Love, Loss, and What They Wore. Thankfully, she didn’t chew the pages that include my lines. Then, she ate a cross from our cross collection. The Swedish one that we got while living in Chicago – from a store in Andersonville. Perhaps she thought it would taste like Ann Sather’s cinnamon buns. Let us not forget the cable cords that Sookie and Neville munched on...

Pittsburgh Mom Post: Zane, and his Dirty Books

It was fantastic. It was exhausting. But, the exhaustion was completely worth it. I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my...

Unplugged: The Modern “My phone was off the hook!”

Year’s ago back in Chicago I did a show produced by an amazing gentleman who happened to be an orthodox Jew. While the show didn’t do well, I was blessed to have received one of the rare positive reviews – the Chicago Tribune found me to be “charming”. During the show following the release of that review, all the cast members found a way to work the word “charming” into their dialogue with me . . . fun times. One Saturday during our run, Chicago got hit with a pretty severe snowstorm. So bad, in fact, that the Producer chose to cancel the show for that evening. However, he didn’t contact the cast about this. He couldn’t. It was Sabbath. He was orthodox. That meant no phone calls. No email – I don’t...
